KIA AMERICA PLUGS INTO ELECTRIFY EXPO SEATTLE, SEPTEMBER 9-10
Kia America is plugging into Electrify Expo Seattle from September 9-10, at Marymoor Park in Redmond, Washington, as part of the brand’s continued campaign to educate consumers on the ease of EV ownership. Kia will bring its award-winning lineup of EVs to Electrify Expo, where attendees can learn more about the benefits of EV ownership, gain valuable insight into what EV ownership entails and experience electric vehicles first-hand. In Seattle, the Kia EV6 -- winner of the esteemed 2023 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year™ award, the EV6 GT, which recently captured the 2023 World Performance Car title, and the multi award-winning 2023 Niro EV model will be available for test drives. Electrify Expo Seattle attendees will also be among the first consumers to see the upcoming all-new EV9, Kia’s first dedicated three-row EV SUV1.
Kia Georgia Plans Expansion to Accommodate EV9 Production
Kia Georgia’s West Point assembly plant is undergoing a transformation that will allow for the assembly of the all-electric 2024 EV9 three-row SUV in the second quarter of 2024. This over $200 million expansion will create nearly 200 additional jobs in Troup County with EV9 joining the Telluride, Sorento and Sportage SUVs and the K5 mid-size sedan as the fifth model to be assembled at Kia Georgia.
KIA AMERICA’S GROWTH CONTINUES WITH TENTH STRAIGHT YEAR-OVER-YEAR MONTHLY SALES INCREASES
Fast-growing Kia America continues its hot streak as the brand posted total May sales of 71,497 units, marking the second-highest monthly sales total in company history and the tenth consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases. Sales of retail units in May totaled 65,197, marking an increase of 21-percent year-over-year, with combined sales increasing by 23-percent. Several models posting double- and even triple-digit sales increases, including: Seltos (+171-percent); Stinger (+102-percent); Carnival (+80-percent); Soul (+45-percent); Telluride (+35-percent); Sportage (+24-percent) and Sorento (+13-percent). May sales were driven by Kia’s lineup of capable SUVs, which increased 35-percent year-over-year and accounted for 74-percent of the brand’s total volume. The Sportage, Telluride and Seltos models also set best-ever May sales records, up 17-, 29- and 39-percent, respectively, over each model’s previous record-setting May performances set in 2021. In addition, Seltos set an all-time monthly sales record with sales up 15-percent over the previous best-ever monthly sales performance set by the model in March 2021. Sales of Kia’s electrified models set a new May record – posting a 33-percent increase over May 2022 – and a new any-month record up by 4-percent over the previous record which was set just last month. Sales of the all-electric Kia EV6 also set a new May sales record, increasing 7-percent over May 2022. In addition, overall sales of the model increased 80-percent over last month thanks in part to a marketing campaign and competitive lease program.

KIA AMERICA OPENS 2023 WITH BEST-EVER JANUARY SALES
Following the best retail sales in company history last year, Kia America began 2023 with a record-setting January performance of 51,983 units, up 22.3-percent year-over-year. January marked Kia’s sixth consecutive monthly sales record with four of Kia’s SUV and utility nameplates – Niro, Sportage, Telluride and Carnival – as well as the Forte compact sedan posting best-ever January totals. Sales of Kia’s electrified models increased 128-percent over the same period last year.

Kia America kicked off an early start to celebrating the arrival of 2023 with a nationwide tour of the iconic Times Square New Year’s Eve Numerals that will illuminate New York City’s Times Square on December 31, when the Ball Drops and the New Year begins. Yesterday, the 2023 Numerals departed the Kia Forum in Los Angeles and began a coast-to-coast road trip designed to bring the excitement and anticipation of the New Year to people across the country.
