2018 KIA RIO RECEIVES TOP SAFETY PICK PLUS RATING FROM INSURANCE INSTITUTE FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded its best rating possible, Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+), to the 2018 Kia Rio sedan when equipped with optional Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and LED headlights on vehicles built after June 2018. Thanks to the “Superior” rating given to the AEB system, and the “Good” rating given to the optional LED headlights, the 2018 Rio becomes the first vehicle in the IIHS minicar segment to achieve the TSP+ designation.

KIA MOTORS AMERICA ANNOUNCES SEPTEMBER SALES
Kia Motors America (KMA) today announced September sales of 51,503 vehicles with the brand’s popular Sportage CUV and Niro hybrid crossover posting gains of 17- and 13-percent, respectively, over the same period last year. In addition, the Optima midsize sedan also posted double-digit growth with a 10-percent increase in sales over September, 2017.

Kia Motors America and B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe) are expanding the number of free defensive driving classes offered in the Midwest. Working with B.R.A.K.E.S., Kia aims to reduce the high rate of teens involved in motor vehicle crashes. B.R.A.K.E.S. has provided training for more than 30,000 teens and their parents nationwide since the program was founded in 2008. Research shows that teens who complete the B.R.A.K.E.S. program are 64 percent less likely to be in a crash in their first three years of driving.

Kia Motors America today announced June sales of 56,571 vehicles, a 0.8-percent increase over the same period last year. In the month that saw Kia top all non-premium brands in J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study for the fourth consecutive year, sales were led by the Sorento SUV at 12,089 units, up 23.9-percent year-over-year. In addition to Sorento, Rio, Niro and Sedona also posted double-digit sales increases over June 2017.
