RIO AND STINGER NAMED SEGMENT WINNERS IN J.D. POWER 2018 AUTOMOTIVE PERFORMANCE, EXECUTION, AND LAYOUT (APEAL) STUDY
Following the launch of the 2018 Rio and highly anticipated 2018 Stinger, Kia Motors America (KMA) has earned two more J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) awards for its stylish subcompact and its powerful fastback sports sedan. The double win helped increase Kia’s overall score by eight points since last year, while also securing the brand’s spot among the top 10 non-premium nameplates. The announcement follows Kia Motors being named the highest ranked mass market brand in J.D. Power Initial Quality Study for the fourth consecutive year, with the Rio also capturing a win in the small car segment.

KIA MOTORS AMERICA ANNOUNCES JUNE SALES
Kia Motors America today announced June sales of 56,571 vehicles, a 0.8-percent increase over the same period last year. In the month that saw Kia top all non-premium brands in J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study for the fourth consecutive year, sales were led by the Sorento SUV at 12,089 units, up 23.9-percent year-over-year. In addition to Sorento, Rio, Niro and Sedona also posted double-digit sales increases over June 2017.

KIA MOTORS IS THE HIGHEST RANKED MASS MARKET BRAND IN J.D. POWER’S INITIAL QUALITY STUDY FOR THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR
For the fourth consecutive year, Kia was recognized as the number one non-premium brand by J.D. Power in the 2018 Initial Quality Study (IQS), with a reported 72 problems per 100 vehicles. Kia maintained its leadership position with segment-leading performances from the Sorento (Midsize SUV) and Rio (Small Car), while Optima (Midsize Car), Sportage (Small SUV) and Sedona (Minivan) placed second and the Forte (Compact Car) placed third in their respective segments.

Kia Motors America today announced May sales of 59,462 vehicles, representing a 1.6 percent increase over the same period last year and the brand’s highest monthly sales total in 2018. May sales were led by the Forte and Sorento, with 11,261 and 10,370 units sold, respectively. In addition, the Stinger fastback sports sedan set a model-specific monthly sales record with 1,761 units sold in May.
