Peter Schreyer Biography

Peter Schreyer born in Bad Reichenhall, Germany. He grew up on his parents’ farm and soon developed a passion about cars and airplanes 

From school, he went on to study industrial design at the University of Applied SciencesinMunich, followed by a course in transportation design at the Royal College of Art inLondon.

Schreyer’s automotive career began in 1980 with Audi and during the following 25 years that relationship with the Volkswagen Group saw him successfully participating in a wide range of projects and he became one of the main driving forces behind the image change of the Audi brand.

Throughout this part of his life Schreyer’s work was recognized and honored with various international design awards, not the least being was when the Audi design team was honored as “Design team of the year” in 1999.

In 2003 he received the highest personal recognition for his unique design talent - the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany.

In 2006 a new challenge came his way and he snatched the opportunity of becoming Chief Design Officer at Kia. The following year, he received an honorary doctorate from the Royal College of Art in recognition of his contributions to automotive design.

Under Schreyer’s leadership, Kia has completely renewed its product range and developed a distinct and widely applauded new design identity. The success of this new strategy has been recognized with a number of international design awards but perhaps the ultimate accolade has come from customers with Kia sales climbing globally and brand value increasing dramatically.
