In conjunction with the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, Road & Travel Magazine (RTM) has named the 2015 Kia K900 as its International Car of the Year. The K900’s stunning design combined with luxurious amenities, impressive performance and great value propelled the Kia brand to an unprecedented third consecutive win of the prestigious ICOTY award. The ICOTY jurors honored Kia’s Cadenza premium sedan last year and the best-selling Optima midsize sedan in 2012.

10/23/14 - 2015 KIA SOUL WINS ACTIVE LIFESTYLE VEHICLE OF THE YEAR

Kia Motors America’s (KMA) fun and funky urban passenger vehicle, the 2015 Soul, was named a winner at the 11th annual Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year awards held recently at Local Motors in Chandler, Arizona. For the third consecutive year, local media and athletes rated the Soul best in the urban category after static and dynamic evaluations.

Since declaring design management as a core driver of the company’s future growth and the hiring of President & Chief Design Officer Peter Schreyer in 2007, Kia Motors Corporation’s brand value has skyrocketed by 480% from US$929 million to US$5.4 billion, according to Interbrand’s exclusive list of 100 ‘Best Global Brands 2014’ which was released today. This rise in brand value far outpaces the average growth rate over the same period of all 11 other automakers on this year’s list.

Coming off its best-ever first-half sales performance in company history, the fun and funky 2014 Soul has received the J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) award for the third straight year in the Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle segment. All new for the 2014 model year, the Soul sold an individual nameplate record 74,999 units in the first half of 2014.

Kia Motors has built a reputation for world-class design over the last several years, and recently, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) has added to the Korean brand’s renown with a pair of prestigious design awards. Kia received International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) in the transportation category for both the GT4 Stinger concept vehicle and 2014 Soul, earning Silver and Bronze honors, respectively. Kia Motors America’s (KMA) two most popular vehicles, the 2014 Optima and 2014 Soul, were ranked at the top of their respective segments in Strategic Vision’s Total Quality Index Study. Kia’s youthful, stylish and well-built vehicles earned the brand the highest Total Quality score of all mainstream brands in this year’s annual study. The Soul captured the best score in the small multi-function car segment for the second year in a row. Analysts at Strategic Vision look for brands and products that are innovative, bold and smart. Customers’ perceptions of quality also play a major role in overall scores for brands and vehicles.
