Sales Record And Richest Product Mix To Date

Irvine, Calif., March 2, 2004 - Kia Motors America (KMA) today announced monthly sales of 18,586 units during February 2004, a 4.6 percent increase over the same month in 2003. Year-to-date sales for KMA totaled 35,615 units.

“The Kia product mix has changed quite dramatically over the last three years, and our strong February sales indicate that the Kia brand is becoming known for more than just small cars,” said Peter M. Butterfield, Kia Motors America’s president and chief executive officer. “With more than 72% of sales coming from Optima, Sorento, Sedona and Amanti, we are achieving a richer product mix while showcasing Kia’s unique ability to deliver high-quality vehicles that are thoughtfully-designed and come equipped with a host of standard safety equipment, all at a tremendous value.”

Sorento sales set a new monthly record with 4,317 units, a 39% increase over February 2003. Other Kia models showing increased sales in comparison to last year included the Optima mid-size sedan, up 121%, and the Sedona minivan, up 29%. Following its national ad launch in December and January, the all-new Amanti large premium sedan continues to perform well with more than 1,500 units sold.
